What is keyword competition?
How many sites promoting that domain name? The more sites promoting products or services the higher they will compete to accrue that domain name. This completion will increase the value of that domain name.
So, how to find out the competition level?
Again, our big brother, Google, plays a major role in this. While you check the total search here, https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal, the competition level is also listed along the keywords. Use this information to know the completion level.
Finally which TLD (Top Level Domain) is the best? .com is the widely known and highest priced domain. Unfortunately is it very difficult to find a valuable .com domain in the primary market. Fortunately, ccTLD (County Code Top Level Domain) gaining in value and popularity. Current popular ccTLDs are .cn and .co.uk.
My personal advice is, if you have some extra cash, grab some .com from secondary market. They do appreciate in value as the real estate does. Current market trend suggest buying the domains as they are traded for a fraction of their original value due to the economic crisis.
The .us domain manager promised to promote .us during this year, thus .us will gain in popularity by next year.
So grab some domain to your portfolio as long as they are available.
